Adult Neuropsychological Assessment

Neuropsychological Assessment is an evaluation of your brain health where we use paper and pencil type testing to assess various aspects of your cognitive function.

This includes memory measures, problem solving, language skills, spatial reasoning and planning, reaction time, sensory function, and psychological measures to assess your mood and psychological coping abilities.

The purpose of testing is to clarify or confirm a diagnosis and to help formulate treatment planning with your team of care providers. Evaluation can also help assess readiness to return to work or appropriateness to perform functions like driving, medication management, and financial decisions.

Assessment is usually broken up over three different appointments. This includes an hour-long intake appointment, where we gather information about you, your history, and presenting problems so that we can target testing measures that best suit your needs.

The second session is the testing appointment itself, during which you will be assessed with several different testing measures.

The third appointment is a feedback session, during which you and your family will be brought in to review the results of testing in detail and discuss next steps/recommendations.

Child and Adolescent Assessment

Neuropsychological assessment services for child and adolescent populations include cognitive tests that assess attention, processing speed, intellectual function, and psychological function with a focus on clarifying a diagnosis of ADHD or autism.

Evaluation can help the child’s treatment team and school professionals determine appropriate treatment strategies and academic accommodations and to maximize their full potential.

  • Assessment is broken up over three different appointments, including an hour-long intake session with the psychologist to gather information about the child’s medical and social history as well as presenting problems to help build a suitable battery of tests.
  • The second session is the testing appointment, during which the child is assessed with several measures and may take several hours.
  • The third appointment is a feedback session, during which the child and their families will go over the test results and discuss treatment recommendations.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy is conducted by a speech and language pathologist and is focused on assessing and treating communication problems (expressive and receptive language) as well as poor oral motor control and swallowing difficulties related to neurological deficits such as stroke.

Speech therapy is often a critical role in the rehabilitation process and is meant to improve quality of life by enhancing language, swallowing function, and improving independent communication.
